I was recently asked by PEDRI (Prioritising equity in public engagement in data research) to present on the subject of Equality Impact Assessments. This is work that I do as part of my consultancy role at the Centre for Ethnic Health Research.
In the webinar, I shared a toolkit that can be used or adapted by people working in health research to embed Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in their work. It’s the toolkit that is used to establish both the principles and practicalities of the Equality Impact Assessment approach designed for use for all research funded by ARC (Allied Research Collaboration) East Midlands.
Basically, we’re talking about a piece of kit that helps health researchers acknowledge the need for inclusive thinking and practical application when planning and undertaking their research. To that end, it’s pretty fundamental to help see and then address disadvantage.
