We all know an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but what apples are there for your mind?
I have been leading ‘Mind Apples’ sessions for many years. They involve a simple premise. That we are quite accustomed to receiving messages from government, from health and social care services, from the sports and leisure industries and others about what is good for our physical health. However, we’re not quite as educated and as experienced about the same in relation to our mental health. And yet it is as important! And, given the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, perhaps even more so!
Mind Apples is really everyday mindfulness! Nothing more. Nothing less. It is designed to give you new techniques and activities to help you reduce stress and emotional discomfort, deal with anxiety and fight back when you’re feeling low and withdrawn. It does so by listening to what people actually do themselves and by incorporating good practice suggestions. We have also discussed subjects such as ‘recovery’, how we’re actually feeling in relation to local and world happenings and annual events such as Christmas and New Year!
As this is about mental health, this actually applies to everyone!
The sessions I run are interactive, informative, engaging and yes, fun! They can be run virtually – via Zoom – or face-to-face.
If you’re interested in recruiting me to do a bespoke Mind Apples session for your group, organisation, workplace, club, school etc please contact me directly. There may be a small charge for doing this – my fee for one hour being £50.
Oh, I nearly forgot. I also run a Mind Apples Facebook page! This is updated every single day with photos, stories, blogs, anecdotes, messages – all about positive mental health. The site is called ‘Mind Apples with Julian Harrison’.
